Viewsonic announced a DLP (digital light processing) front-projector priced at less than $1000, for business and home use. The PJ558D projector meets customer demand for more versatile displays by featuring widescreen capabilities and a brightness of 2500 lumens, making the display optimal for viewing PowerPoint presentations, spreadsheets and movies.

Nvidia offers Gelato GPU-accelerated renderer for free.

Santa Clara (CA) - Nvidia has released a free version of its Gelato GPU assisted rendering software. Gelato 2.0 will be available for both Windows and Linux operating systems for free, though users requiring more features can purchase a professional version. The program uses the GPU as a secondary math coprocessor to speed up frame rendering in 3D applications like Maya and 3d Studio Max.

AMD To Showcase Upcoming Phenom CPUs At CeBIT 2008.

Due to the TLB (translation lookaside buffer) bug, AMD has postponed the launch of its upcoming quad-core Phenom 9700 CPU to the second quarter of 2008, however the company is planning to showcase the CPU at CeBIT 2008 in March along with 9900 and 9100e models, according to sources at motherboard makers.AMD is confident that it has solved the bug in the B3 stepping revision, but since the company has not yet revealed an actual shipment date for the three CPUs, it is unclear whether the showcase will also mark their official launch, noted the sources.

Top-5 notebook vendors to grab over 70% global market share in 2006.

The top-five notebook vendors - Dell, Hewlett-Packard (HP), Acer, Toshiba and Lenovo (formerly IBM) - are expected to grab a combined 70.5% share of the global notebook market in 2006, up from 60.1% in 2004, according to statistics compiled by Taiwan"s first-tier notebook manufacturers.
