At the International Solid-State Circuits Conference (ISSCC) here, Japan"s Seiko Epson presented a paper on a flexible, 8-bit asynchronous microprocessor, based on a low-temperature, poly-silicon TFT technology. The ACT11 processor is aimed at the emerging flexible microelectronics market. (EETimes)

Spansion announced it was selected by Lenovo Mobile Communications Technology as the principal supplier of flash memory to be used in handset products. Lenovo plans to leverage Spansion"s proprietary Mirror Bit flash memory technology to bring innovative phones to the Chinese market, enabling advanced features, such as CD-quality audio and photos with resolution of up to 4 megapixels, according to Spansion.

Gears of War goes gold.

Microsoft Game Studios, along with developer Epic Games, announced on Wednesday that they have completed the production of the anticipated Xbox 360 game Gears of War. Set to launch nationwide on 12 November, it is Microsoft"s big video game entry in the week-long period of highly anticipated mid-November product launches.
