Abit introduces silent cooling technology.

Abit announced a new cooling technology for performance motherboards. According to the manufacturer, "Silent OTES" uses a heatpipe technology to transfer unwanted heat from the North Bridge to the fins of a collection module. From there, heat is exhausted outside of the case by air flowing from the CPU fan. The company claims the cooling technology operates "totally silent" while offering "excellent" cooling efficiency. Abit"s system is based on an aluminum heatsink with copper base, which is fastened securely with screws to the North Bridge to ensure maximum contact for heat transfer. Copper fins on the collection module are angled to improve air flow and utilize existing airflow from the CPU fan. The first motherboards equipped with the technology will be announced this month, Abit said. (THG)
